Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, and the profile details you provide during registration, such as organisation, professional role, city, and country.
- Google sign-in information: when you choose “Continue with Google”, Google and our authentication provider provide the basic profile information needed to identify your account, including your name, email address, and Google account identifier. We do not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, or other Google Workspace content.
- Learning preferences: items you save for later and the preferences you set in your learning profile.
- Communications: information you include when you email us.
- Technical information: limited technical information needed to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the website, such as browser and device information, IP-related security data, and authentication/session data processed by our hosting and authentication providers.
Cookies, browser storage, and analytics
We use essential browser storage and authentication-session storage to keep you signed in and remember your colour-theme preference. We use Google Analytics 4 in a privacy-minimized, cookieless mode to understand page visits. Analytics storage and advertising storage remain disabled, so the Google tag does not set Google Analytics advertising or measurement cookies. We also disable advertising signals and do not send form interactions, site-search activity, or URL query strings to Google.

How we use information
We use personal information to create and secure accounts; provide saved-learning and account features; respond to enquiries; protect the website and prevent misuse; maintain and improve the service; and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Google user data
Google sign-in is used only to authenticate you and create or link your Smart Surgical Team account. We use the Google information described above only for those visible account features. We do not sell, rent, transfer, or use Google user data for advertising, profiling, or training general-purpose artificial intelligence models.
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Service providers and sharing
We use service providers to operate the website, including Supabase for authentication and account data, Cloudflare for hosting and media delivery, and Google where you use Google sign-in or where we use privacy-minimized website analytics. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services. We may also disclose information where required to protect rights, safety, and security, or to comply with applicable law.
Retention and security
We retain account information while your account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward where necessary for security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or legitimate operational records. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information; however, no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You can update available profile information and saved items through your account. You may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of your personal information by emailing us. We may need to verify your identity and may retain limited information where required by law or for legitimate security purposes. You may also revoke Smart Surgical Team’s access through your Google Account security settings; revocation stops future Google sign-in access but does not automatically delete an existing Smart Surgical Team account.
Children, international processing, and changes
The service is designed for professional and academic users and is not directed to children. Do not create an account or provide personal information if you are below the minimum age required to consent to online services where you live. Your information may be processed in countries where our service providers operate. When we update this Policy, we will post the revised version here and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes to Google user-data practices will be disclosed before the changed use begins.
