Rare Insights: Epithelial-Myoepithelial Carcinoma(EMC) of Salivary glands

a 5-patient cohort study 2020–2025

Written details

Overview

We are proud to share our research on Epithelial-Myoepithelial Carcinoma (EMC) of the salivary glands, published in the Barw Medical Journal EMC is an exceptionally rare, low-grade malignant tumor that represents less than 1% of all salivary gland neoplasms.

In our recent 5-year single-center study in Iraq (2020–2025), we evaluated the clinical profiles, surgical management, and long-term outcomes of a 5-patient cohort.

Through individualized surgical interventions, including superficial/total parotidectomy and submandibular gland excision, we are thrilled to report a 100% survival rate, negative lymph node involvement, and zero recurrences over a mean follow-up of 24 months.
